No content promoting dangerous activities, weapons manufacturing, or physical harm
Why it matters
Apple guideline 1.1 and Google Play's Dangerous Products policy apply zero-tolerance enforcement — there is no editorial exemption for context or intent when the content provides step-by-step instructions for manufacturing weapons, drugs, or explosives. For apps using AI assistants, this extends to the system prompt: a prompt that removes safety constraints (OWASP LLM02 — Insecure Output Handling) can produce policy-violating output on demand, and the developer is held responsible. A single user report of harmful content in an AI-assisted app is enough to trigger expedited review and removal.
Severity rationale
High because dangerous content or an unguarded AI system prompt will result in immediate removal and potential developer account termination — both stores apply zero-tolerance enforcement regardless of context or stated intent.
Remediation
Remove all instructional content for weapons, drug synthesis, or violence from bundled data files and source strings. For AI integrations, lock the system prompt to a specific domain and add explicit safety constraints:
// src/config/ai.ts
const SYSTEM_PROMPT = `You are a [specific domain] assistant.
Scope: Answer only questions about [domain].
Safety: Decline any request for instructions on weapons, drugs, self-harm, or violence. If asked, reply: "I can only help with [domain] topics."`;
Add a content moderation layer before displaying AI output using OpenAI's moderation endpoint (POST https://api.openai.com/v1/moderations) and block any response where results[0].flagged === true.
